S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library returns to Library To-Go Window Service effective November 30, 2020:
Beginning November 30, 2020 patrons can access the S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library through:
• Library To-Go Window: patrons may call or email the library with library materials requests (book, audio book, DVD, etc.) and schedule a time to pick them up at our Library To-Go Window without having to come into the building. Patrons can request specific books, or the library staff is happy to pick out books for patrons based on their interests. (814) 642-9210 or swsmith@swsmithlibrary.org. S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library Staff follow all CDC and PA Department of Health COVID-19 health and safety orders and recommendations while operating the Library To-Go Window.
The book return on the corner of the building on Maple and Pine streets is open and a bin for returns will also be provided near the parking lot entrance and inside during business hours. For the health and safety of our staff and patrons, please refrain from handing returns directly to staff when picking up your Library To-Go requests. Please make sure to place returns in the drop or bin and do not pull out any library materials already returned in the drop or bin. Library materials in the drop and bin have not yet been disinfected or quarantined. Returned library materials must be quarantined for three days and then sanitized before returning to circulation.
Book donations are not being accepted at this time. The library asks that patrons hold their physical library materials donations at home until a later date. Books, DVDs, audio books, and other physical library materials donated for library circulation or book sales are appreciated, but will not be accepted at this time due to the quarantine and sanitation process.
Online programming is still active and expanding! Patrons of all ages can access options to keep reading, learning, and socializing through the library. Please follow facebook.com/swsmithlibrary for virtual program announcements and schedules.
Please remember that the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, PA Department of Education, and PA Department of Health have determined that these procedures are the best options for what public libraries are currently able to offer in terms of community health and safety. The S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library will be following all federal and state health guidelines including the PA Department of Health COVID-19 Safety Procedures for Business to ensure the safety of our library staff and patrons. The PA Department of Health, PA Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries, S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library Director and Library Board of Trustees have the authority to change the type of library services provided at any time to protect the health of the library staff, patrons, and community. The S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library is a non-partisan, non-profit entity.
- Consistent with PA Department of Health orders, an appropriate nose and mouth covering mask is required to approach the Library To-Go Window (2 years old and up)
- The free Wi-Fi will remain on 24/7 and can be accessed on library grounds
