SW Smith Library is a smoke-free facility effective January 2, 2018:
As we recognize the hazards caused by exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, as well as the life-threatening diseases linked to the use of all forms of nicotine, it shall be the policy of S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library to provide a smoke-free environment for all employees and patrons. This policy covers the smoking of any product including electronic smoking devices, water vaping, the use of oral tobacco products or “chew” tobacco, and it applies to employees, volunteers, and patrons of the S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library.
In addition, no tobacco or smoking products may be used on the S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library property which includes the entrances, outdoor seating areas, sidewalks, parking lot, and driveways.
For employees of the S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library, no additional breaks beyond those allowed under the S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library break policy may be taken for the purpose of using tobacco products. In addition, any employee or volunteer choosing to use tobacco products must not do so on the library grounds.
